Assessment of substance use disorder is sometimes mandated by a court, school, or licensing board. The evaluation assesses the presence and extent of a person’s substance use problem and results in a personalized treatment plan to address both problematic behaviors and underlying issues.

Substance abuse evaluations, also referred to as chemical dependency evaluations, are based on a biopsychosocial understanding of addiction through a trauma-informed lens and include a clinical interview, psychological testing, and review of medical or legal records when necessary. Comprehensive reports are used by schools, universities, or licensing boards to determine a person’s ability to return to school or work and by courts to determine appropriate sentencing.

The evaluation includes a detailed substance use history and screens for co-occurring disorders. Other measures may be included as deemed necessary during the evaluation process. These data are used to assess impairment due to substance miuse, provide a DSM 5 diagnosis, and inform an individualized, evidence-based treatment plan.

Forensic assessment and consultation are available for legal cases where compulsive stealing or theft are suspected.

Forensic evaluations are based on current literature examining compulsive stealing and kleptomania and include a clinical interview, psychological testing, and collateral interviews. Comprehensive reports can be utilized by the courts to assess risk of future behavior or for adjudication and disposition purposes.

A standard battery includes personality testing, screens for co-occurring disorders, projective assessments, and a robust examination of past and current stealing behaviors. Other measures may be included as deemed necessary during the evaluation process. These data are used to provide a rationale for the offense, determine the presence of an impulse control disorder, and inform an individualized treatment plan.

Immigration evaluations are based on current literature examining the impact of trauma and family separation on psychosocial functioning and include a clinical interview, psychological testing, and collateral interviews. Comprehensive reports can be utilized to assess the long-term impact of deportation.

A standard battery includes culturally-sensitive assessment of psychological disorders and a robust examination of past and current exposure to trauma or violence. Other measures may be included as deemed necessary during the evaluation process. These data are used to determine the presence of a DSM 5 diagnosis and inform an individualized, evidence-based treatment plan.

Psychological evaluations are conducted for people applying or renewing disability benefits due to chronic, treatment-resistant mood disorders, trauma, and psychosis. We do not offer neuropsychological testing for cases where the primary disability is related to cognitive, intellectual, or learning disorders.

Disability evaluations are based on a clinical interview, psychological testing, and review of medical and psychiatric records. Comprehensive reports can be utilized to determine eligibility for benefits.
